Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager for a direct hire opportunity supporting fire protection service operations in the Modesto and Stockton, CA areas. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in portable fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, service operations, technician leadership, routing, inspections, safety, and customer service.

The Service Manager will oversee production, staffing, performance, safety, inventory, customer relationships, and service quality across the Northern Region. Key Responsibilities

- Oversee service production across the Modesto and Stockton areas, including technician scheduling, routing efficiency, inspection completion, documentation accuracy, and daily operational support.
- Lead, train, motivate, and manage production personnel while promoting employee development, safety compliance, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.
- Support customer relationships by resolving disputes, meeting with new and existing customers, conducting worksite surveys, and identifying service challenges.
- Manage inventory, tools, testing equipment, vehicle maintenance, warehouse accuracy, and calibration requirements to ensure technicians are properly equipped.
- Generate and update master service agreements, contract work orders, and service agreements for large customers.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable fire protection inspection, testing, maintenance codes, standards, safety regulations, and business requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage regional service operations for fire protection inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair services.
- Lead technician teams, improve routing and production efficiency, and ensure accurate inspection documentation.
- Support customer service, contract administration, worksite surveys, safety compliance, and operational profitability.
- Oversee tools, inventory, vehicles, equipment calibration, timecards, and production personnel certification tracking.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant service management, field service leadership, fire protection, or related industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with portable fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, and fire suppression systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college, technical school, or 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe.
- Strong math skills to accurately calculate sales orders, contracts, and divisional profits.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work professionally with customers, technicians, peers, and management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage large amounts of information, multitask, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop personnel in a positive and productive manner.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills to resolve customer issues, personnel matters, disputes, and operational challenges.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Valid California Driver’s License and DMV record acceptable to company insurance requirements.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation, driving record validation, and pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

- NICET certification.
- Fire Extinguisher Certificate of Registration Type 1, 2, or 3.
- Manufacturer fire suppression certifications.
- Automatic Extinguishing Systems Sprinkler Fitter Card.
- Knowledge of Epicor/Prophet 21.
- Knowledge of Service Trade.
