Job Summary Required Qualifications and Skills
We are seeking a Residential Technician for a direct hire opportunity in San Diego, CA. This field-based garage door service role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and delivering excellent customer experiences in residential settings.
As a Residential Technician, you will diagnose garage door and opener issues, explain repair and replacement options, complete service work, and build trust with homeowners. This opportunity offers hands-on training, a supportive team environment, strong leadership, and a clear path to grow technical, customer service, and consultative sales skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled residential service appointments and provide professional, customer-focused support.
- Diagnose garage door, opener, and accessory issues and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
- Present service options, explain products and warranties, and support consultative sales opportunities.
- Perform repairs, installations, and maintenance work accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Prepare estimates, review work orders, collect payment as needed, and maintain clear customer communication.
- Keep a clean, organized, and properly stocked company vehicle while maintaining product and service knowledge.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Salary: $52,000 annually.
- Training pay: $25 per hour for up to 8 weeks.
- After training: 100% commission for Washington and other California locations.
- Anticipated start date: 8/31/2026.
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends as needed.
- Complete residential garage door service appointments, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
- Diagnose garage door and opener issues and recommend effective customer solutions.
- Present estimates, review work orders, educate homeowners, and support sales opportunities.
- Maintain an organized service vehicle and travel throughout the assigned service area.
- 1-2 years of related experience preferred in sales, customer service, home services, construction, installation, maintenance, or repair.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to company insurance requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools, equipment, and residential service products.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
- Comfortable explaining technical information and recommending repair or replacement options.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and work in varying weather conditions, dirt, dust, noise, and onsite field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with garage doors, openers, residential repair, field service, or home improvement services.
- Consultative sales experience or comfort closing service recommendations with homeowners.
- Experience working from a company vehicle in a route-based or appointment-based service role.
