Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Receptionist for a full-time temporary opportunity in Livermore, CA. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the first point of contact, supporting an administrative office, and helping the public receive accurate information and courteous service.
The Receptionist will support a public sector office environment where professionalism, confidentiality, teamwork, and service are essential. This position offers the opportunity to work with supportive leadership, collaborate with administrative and housing operations staff, and contribute to an organization that serves the local community. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to manage front desk responsibilities with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and route multi-line phone calls, take messages, transfer calls, and provide routine information to callers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Greet visitors, determine the nature of their business, maintain visitor logs, follow security and access procedures, and notify appropriate staff.
- Receive, sort, log, and distribute incoming mail, faxes, internal documents, and other communications.
- Prepare, type, format, proofread, and revise correspondence, forms, reports, statistical tables, and other office materials.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive documents, including personnel, financial, legal, and agency-related materials.
- Provide administrative support for events, resident engagement efforts, flyers, email communications, and setup or teardown of event spaces as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $22.00 to $23.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage front desk reception duties, including phones, visitors, messages, and routine public inquiries.
- Support administrative document processing, mail distribution, filing, proofreading, and office communications.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive agency records, reports, legal documents, and personnel-related materials.
- Assist with community-facing administrative support, including event preparation, marketing materials, and resident engagement communications.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 to 2 years of reception, clerical, administrative, or secretarial experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of general office practices, business English, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, and professional communication.
- Ability to operate computers, office equipment, word processing software, and general administrative systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact courteously with the public, clients, visitors, and internal staff.
- Ability to perform routine duties independently, follow moderately complex written and verbal instructions, and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Must maintain punctuality, attendance, professional appearance, and a positive image.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Must pass employment drug screening and criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Two years of progressive experience in reception, clerical work, secretarial support, or a related administrative role is preferred.
- Experience supporting a public sector, housing, nonprofit, community service, or high-volume front office environment is a plus.
