Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for a direct hire opportunity in Valencia, CA, focused on electrical materials procurement for active commercial, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, aerospace, and tenant improvement construction projects.
This role is ideal for a senior purchasing professional with deep knowledge of electrical materials, supplier networks, construction timelines, and jobsite delivery coordination. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, warehouse teams, vendors, and executive purchasing leadership to ensure materials are sourced accurately, priced competitively, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities
- Source, purchase, and manage electrical materials, equipment, tools, and supplies for multiple active construction projects.
- Review specifications, material takeoffs, and field order requests to ensure accurate purchasing and timely fulfillment.
- Create and manage purchase orders using Kojo construction materials management software and track materials through delivery.
- Obtain competitive quotes, negotiate pricing, confirm availability, and coordinate supplier delivery schedules.
- Communicate order status, shortages, backorders, substitutions, and delivery issues to Project Managers, Field Supervisors, warehouse staff, and leadership.
- Monitor material costs, reconcile purchase orders and invoices, and prepare purchasing, vendor performance, and cost reports.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage electrical materials procurement for commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Coordinate supplier quotes, purchase orders, deliveries, backorders, and jobsite material needs.
- Support cost control, vendor management, purchasing reports, invoice reconciliation, and project budget tracking.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Extensive purchasing experience, ideally 10+ years, with at least five years of purchasing experience within the electrical industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical materials, equipment, tools, construction methods, and supplier channels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage purchasing requirements across multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accurate purchasing records and documentation.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing office-related duties.
- Ability to occasionally lift materials or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Kojo construction materials management software.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution channels and manufacturer product lines.
- Understanding of project budgeting, job costing, and material cost controls.
- Previous experience working in electrical construction.
