Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Patient Service Representative for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Los Angeles, CA. This role is ideal for a healthcare administrative professional with strong patient registration, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and front office experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, or medical office setting.
As a Patient Service Representative, you will serve as a key point of contact for patients, helping create a positive and efficient care experience from check-in through check-out. This position offers the opportunity to work in a patient-focused healthcare environment with a collaborative team, supportive leadership, and a pathway to long-term employment for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients in person and by phone, provide professional assistance, and help resolve or escalate patient concerns.
- Complete patient check-in and check-out, collect co-payments, issue receipts, and reconcile payments accurately.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, benefits, referrals, and authorizations using CS-Link/Epic or similar systems.
- Schedule appointments, complete patient registration, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Process patient and provider correspondence while explaining policies, procedures, and services clearly.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $26 to $27 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage patient registration, check-in, check-out, and front office workflow in a healthcare setting.
- Verify insurance information, benefit plans, referrals, and authorizations.
- Schedule appointments and support patient communication by phone and in person.
- Collect co-payments, reconcile payments, and maintain accurate patient account records.
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 2 years of similar registration experience in a hospital setting required.
- At least 1 year of recent experience within the last 2 to 3 years in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting required.
- Experience with patient check-in/check-out, medical insurance, referral processes, and benefit plans required.
- Strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills required.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working only for a health insurance company or health plan does not qualify for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the patient check-in process in a busy healthcare environment.
- Experience using CS-Link/Epic.
- Covid and flu vaccination.
- 1 or more years of call center experience.
