We are seeking a friendly and customer-focused Optical Clerk for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Shreveport, LA. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys helping people, has strong retail customer service skills, and is interested in growing within a healthcare services environment.

As an Optical Clerk, you will assist patients with selecting eyewear, explaining lens options, processing orders, and supporting daily optical department operations. This position offers the opportunity to learn optical products and procedures while working in a professional, patient-focused setting with supportive leadership, positive teamwork, and room to build valuable healthcare customer service experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet patients and provide professional, courteous customer service throughout the eyewear selection process.
- Assist customers with choosing frames, understanding lens options, reviewing pricing, and selecting available optical products.
- Enter prescriptions, measurements, customer information, and eyewear orders accurately into the system.
- Receive, organize, inspect, fit, and adjust optical products as needed.
- Process payments, maintain sales records, schedule appointments, and answer phone inquiries.
- Support insurance verification, protect patient privacy, and maintain a clean and organized optical area.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Location: Shreveport, LA.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Assist patients with eyewear selection, frame fit, lens options, and product recommendations.
- Accurately enter prescriptions, measurements, customer information, and orders into electronic systems.
- Provide front-line customer service, payment processing, appointment scheduling, and phone support.
- Help maintain organized optical inventory, displays, records, and patient service areas.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable using computers and electronic systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when entering information and handling orders.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and willingness to learn optical products and procedures.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA privacy expectations.
- Less than 1 year of experience accepted for candidates with the right customer service mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous optical, healthcare, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of optical terminology, eyewear products, frames, lenses, and coatings is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience verifying insurance benefits or assisting with insurance-related questions is helpful.
