Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Branch Operations Specialist or Branch Operations Officer for a direct hire opportunity with a respected banking and consumer lending organization in Santa Barbara, CA. This role is ideal for a banking operations professional who enjoys leading branch teams, supporting excellent client service, maintaining strong compliance standards, and helping drive branch growth.
The Operations Specialist or Officer will support the Branch Manager in daily operations, staff development, customer service, account review, transaction approvals, and regulatory adherence. Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily branch operations, including staff scheduling, teller support, new account review, file maintenance, exception reporting, and operational documentation.
- Support a positive client experience by resolving escalated service concerns, advising clients on account activity, and maintaining professional, solutions-focused communication.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, procedures, branch certification requirements, security controls, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
- Provide operational guidance, coaching, training, and performance support to branch employees, including Client Service Representatives and New Account staff.
- Partner with the Branch Manager on customer retention, branch goals, promotional activities, business development, and deposit growth initiatives.
- Approve transactions within assigned authority limits, provide supervisor overrides, and manage required operational reports by established deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $25 to $39.13 per hour.
- Employment Type: Direct hire.
- Location: Santa Barbara, CA.
- CRA volunteer requirement: Minimum of 10 volunteer hours per year, typically scheduled during business hours. This is compensable time and mileage is reimbursed.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage daily branch operations, reporting, transaction approvals, new account reviews, and compliance documentation.
- Lead, coach, schedule, and support branch employees to ensure strong service, operational accuracy, and professional development.
- Support client service, account resolution, branch security, retention efforts, and sales or deposit growth initiatives.
- Partner with branch leadership to maintain operational standards, meet branch goals, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Operations Specialist level: Minimum of 5 years of banking experience, 2 years of supervisory experience, and 2 years of operations experience.
- Operations Officer level: Minimum of 8 years of banking experience, 4 years of supervisory experience, and 4 years of operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of banking operations, branch procedures, teller functions, new account processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supervising Client Service Representatives, New Account staff, teller staff, or similar branch banking employees.
- Ability to review and approve transactions, process exception items, handle large transaction reporting, and maintain accurate branch documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software or core banking programs.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, customer service, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, fiscal responsibility, and sound judgment in client and employee matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Notary Public preferred.
- Experience supporting branch growth, deposit generation, client retention, outside calling, or business customer prospecting.
- Prior experience assisting with employee evaluations, performance management, timecard review, and branch scheduling.
- Strong community banking background with a commitment to relationship-based service and community involvement.
