Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Cayce, SC. This role supports a busy, fully paperless department responsible for processing EMT, paramedic, and related credentialing records.
This is a great fit for someone who is tech savvy, highly accurate, patient with customers, and comfortable working in a process-driven environment. The team is collaborative, supportive, and fast-paced, with meaningful work that helps ensure certification compliance for emergency medical services professionals. Candidates should be comfortable handling confidential information and occasional sensitive or graphic subject matter due to the nature of the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond professionally and promptly to inquiries.
- Review certification and re-certification documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before verifying eligibility or completing processing.
- Process applications, verification requests, replacement card requests, name changes, and related credentialing updates within required timelines.
- Maintain electronic records and credentialing databases with a high level of accuracy in a fully paperless environment.
- Provide general clerical support, including answering phones, scanning, copying, filing, mass mailings, and assisting with visitor escorting during scheduled events.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Process application records.
- Review digital documentation for compliance, completeness, and accuracy.
- Respond to candidate, regulated community, and public inquiries with strong customer service.
- Maintain credentialing data in web-based systems and electronic databases.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant clerical, administrative, medical records, credentialing, compliance, or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to move quickly and accurately between multiple screens, databases, and web-based systems.
- Comfortable working in a fully paperless office environment.
- High attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes with accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, patient customer service approach.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Comfortable working in an environment where sensitive or graphic emergency medical subject matter may be discussed.
- Fast learner who asks thoughtful questions and can become self-sufficient quickly.
- Dependable, organized, and able to meet processing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical records, healthcare administration, credentialing, certification processing, or regulatory compliance.
- Experience using electronic document management systems, credentialing databases, or high-volume data entry platforms.
- Familiarity with paramedic, ambulance services, public health, or emergency services environments.
