Job Summary

A Seattle legal services team is seeking a highly organized Litigation Assistant for an opportunity supporting attorneys with complex civil litigation matters. This role is ideal for a detail-driven legal professional with 3 to 5 years of Washington State litigation experience who understands court procedures, filing requirements, calendaring, and the importance of accuracy in a fast-paced legal environment.

The Litigation Assistant will play a key role in keeping cases moving efficiently from inception through trial. This opportunity offers the chance to work with a busy, collaborative legal team where professionalism, proactive communication, and strong organizational skills are valued. Candidates who enjoy supporting attorneys, managing deadlines, preparing legal documents, and contributing to high-quality client service will be well aligned with this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Support civil litigation matters through all phases, including pre-suit, discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery materials, subpoenas, notices, correspondence, trial documents, and settlement materials.
- Electronically file documents in Washington State Superior Courts, Federal Courts, and appellate courts as needed.
- Maintain attorney calendars, track litigation deadlines, and ensure compliance with Washington State court rules, local rules, and scheduling orders.
- Coordinate discovery, depositions, witness interviews, expert consultations, document productions, exhibits, trial binders, and courtroom logistics.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, process servers, experts, vendors, and internal team members.

Compensation and Benefits

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage litigation support for complex civil litigation cases from inception through trial.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and file legal documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain litigation calendars, monitor critical deadlines, and coordinate case activity.
- Support discovery, deposition preparation, trial preparation, and case file management.

- 3 to 5 years of litigation assistant experience within Washington State.
- Strong knowledge of Washington State Court Rules, including CR, LCR, and appellate procedures.
- Experience with Washington Superior Court filing requirements.
- Knowledge of Federal Court filing procedures, preferably in the Western and/or Eastern District of Washington.
- Strong understanding of Washington litigation deadlines and calendaring requirements.
- Experience supporting attorneys in civil litigation matters from case opening through trial.
- Proficiency with electronic filing systems and court portals.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, document formatting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, confidentiality, and client service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting complex civil litigation matters.
- Familiarity with discovery databases, document productions, exhibit management, and trial preparation workflows.
- Experience coordinating with experts, vendors, process servers, court staff, and opposing counsel.
- Prior experience supporting mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings.
