A well-established law firm in the Capital Region is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join their team in the health department at their Latham location. This role requires a professional who can manage legal administrative tasks, draft correspondence, and maintain organized files. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of legal terminology and court procedures. Experience with Health law a big plus. Requirements:
The firm is looking for a team player where no task is too small.
-2 to 6 years’ experience as a civil and commercial legal assistant/paralegal
-Experience drafting legal documents, such as pleadings and discovery demands
-Experience preparing for trials, including drafting, and overseeing service of subpoenas
-Willingness to learn additional areas of specialized litigation practice
-Ability to organize and review medical records for discovery
-Experience with commercial real estate transactions
-High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
-Knowledge in the use of NetDocuments and TABS (STI) legal billing program preferable
-Experience with E-filing documents with local and Federal Courts
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Organized and the ability to prioritize tasks
-Must be able to work independently but also follow direction when given
-A paralegal certificate or degree is preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
-Manage and coordinate attorneys’ schedules
-Case management and file review
-Draft various types of legal documents and correspondence
-Prepare cases for deposition and trial
-Manage discovery and trial schedules
-Review, organize and bate stamp medical records
-Other duties and special projects as assigned
