Job Summary

We are seeking an Import Buyer or Senior Import Buyer for a direct hire opportunity in Norwalk, CA within the food and beverage production industry. This role supports purchasing, international supplier communication, import logistics, shipment tracking, and inventory availability for a fast-paced operation.

This is a strong opportunity for a detail-oriented purchasing or supply chain professional who enjoys working with vendors, freight partners, internal teams, and product data. The role offers the chance to grow within international purchasing, support food product supply chains, and work in a collaborative environment where communication, follow-up, and teamwork are valued.

Depending on experience, this position may be hired at a junior or senior level. Junior candidates will receive exposure to purchasing, vendor communication, documentation, and shipment coordination. Senior candidates will have the opportunity to manage suppliers, pricing, purchase orders, freight coordination, and process improvements more independently.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with or manage purchase orders for assigned products, vendors, and product categories.
- Communicate with domestic and international suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, production status, and shipment updates.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping partners, warehouse teams, sales, accounting, and management to support timely product movement.
- Track international shipments, container status, estimated arrival dates, delivery schedules, and related documentation.
- Review supplier pricing, freight costs, landed cost information, purchasing details, and inventory needs.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, product, cost, shipment, compliance, and import-related records in company systems.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage or support purchase orders, supplier follow-up, shipment tracking, and import documentation.
- Coordinate international supply chain activity with vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments.
- Monitor inventory needs, reorder timing, product availability, pricing updates, and purchasing priorities.
- Help resolve vendor issues, shipment delays, product discrepancies, documentation problems, and purchasing concerns.

- 1 to 5+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, supply chain, logistics, import/export, or related administrative support.
- Senior-level candidates should have stronger independent experience managing international import shipments, suppliers, pricing, freight coordination, and inventory-related purchasing needs.
- Strong Excel, reporting, data entry, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple vendors, shipments, deadlines, documents, and details with accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, dependable, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and coordinate effectively with multiple departments.
- Interest in international purchasing, import logistics, food products, and supply chain operations.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bilingual Mandarin skills, especially for communication with overseas suppliers.
- Experience with overseas suppliers, freight forwarding, shipping, customs, or import logistics.
- Food, beverage, CPG, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or import/export industry experience.
- SAGE experience.
- Food safety, supplier documentation, product specifications, or import compliance documentation experience.
- Experience supporting product development, sourcing projects, samples, supplier quotes, or vendor capability reviews.
