Job Summary

We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist for a contract/temporary opportunity in Union City, CA within the education industry. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys supporting the full employee lifecycle, building strong relationships with managers and employees, and helping maintain a compliant, organized, and positive workplace.

The Human Resources Specialist will play a key role in recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, leaves of absence, workers' compensation, and HR documentation. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a people-focused environment where collaboration, confidentiality, sound judgment, and responsive HR support are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage employee lifecycle activities, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, retention support, offboarding, and exit interviews.
- Partner with hiring managers on recruiting efforts, offer letters, new hire orientation, and completion of onboarding documentation.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, COBRA coordination, and employee benefits communication.
- Maintain accurate HR records, employee files, job descriptions, salary structures, and compliance-related documentation.
- Support employee relations, performance management, policy communication, conflict resolution, and manager guidance.
- Track leaves of absence, workers' compensation claims, safety programs, ergonomic processes, and injury reporting in compliance with applicable regulations.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR documentation.
- Support compliance with California and federal employment laws, wage and hour regulations, leaves of absence, and HR best practices.
- Coordinate performance management, employee development, training programs, safety processes, and workers' compensation activities.

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience with recruiting, employee relations, and benefits administration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information professionally.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative work style.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
- Bilingual skills.
- Experience supporting performance management and employee development programs.
