Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist for a direct hire opportunity with a healthcare services organization in San Jose, CA. This role is ideal for a well-rounded Human Resources professional who enjoys being a trusted point of contact for employees and management across the full employee life cycle.

The HR Generalist will support employee relations, credentialing, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, HRIS administration, benefits, compliance, performance management, and workforce planning. This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, coaching leaders, solving complex HR issues, and helping create a positive, compliant, and employee-focused workplace.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as a primary HR point of contact for employees and management, providing guidance on employee relations, policies, personnel issues, and HR best practices.
- Manage employee life cycle processes, including recruitment support, onboarding, credentialing, performance reviews, corrective actions, separations, and documentation.
- Administer workers’ compensation, leave of absence requests, benefit processes, accommodations, EDD verifications, open enrollment support, and related compliance requirements.
- Maintain HRIS workflows, employee data, reporting, ticketing responses, personnel records, medical certifications, and continuing education tracking for compliance purposes.
- Conduct site visits, employee investigations, exit interviews, training support, staff communications, and employee relations activities as needed.
- Support organizational initiatives, workforce planning, talent development, retention programs, company events, compliance reporting, and HR-related projects.

Compensation and Benefits

- Direct hire opportunity.
- Pay range: $38.00 to $40.00 per hour.
- Location: San Jose, CA.
- Work may require flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Work may be performed at various assigned locations, including clinics, mobile sites, schools, event locations, or other designated locations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage full-cycle HR support across employee relations, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, credentialing, benefits, HRIS, and compliance.
- Coach and advise management on personnel issues, corrective action processes, employee concerns, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation, reporting, employee data, medical certifications, training records, and compliance-related records.
- Conduct investigations, support site visits, respond to HR inquiries, and assist with organizational change and employee engagement initiatives.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3 to 5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist or business partner-style role.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, leave administration, workers’ compensation, benefits administration, performance management, and HR compliance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience using HRIS platforms, workflow systems, reporting tools, and related HR technology.
- Strong understanding of local employment and labor laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to conduct objective investigations and handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, work independently, and respond to employee and management inquiries in a timely manner.
- Comfortable presenting information to employees and management in person or online.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in a non-profit environment.
- PHR or SHRM certification.
- Experience assisting with Affirmative Action Plans, safety plans, EEO-1 reporting, Vets-100 reporting, governmental claims, or other compliance reports.
- Experience supporting training and development programs, employee surveys, recognition programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
