Job Summary

A well-established organization in the engineering services industry is seeking an experienced HR Coordinator or HR Generalist for a full-time temporary assignment in Temecula, CA. This 100% onsite role is ideal for a confident HR professional who can quickly step into an active HR environment, support employees and managers, and handle sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.

This opportunity offers the chance to work within a small, close-knit HR team where collaboration, communication, and continuity are highly valued. The selected candidate will play an important role in maintaining day-to-day HR operations during a critical coverage period, supporting employee relations, benefits, leaves of absence, wage garnishments, HR administration, and year-end HR activity.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide daily HR administrative and generalist support to employees, managers, and the internal HR team.
- Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management support, and terminations.
- Respond to employee questions related to benefits, leaves of absence, wage garnishments, and HR policies.
- Support HR workflow continuity by working closely with the HR Assistant and maintaining clear communication.
- Assist with year-end HR activities, holiday season administrative demands, and sensitive employee documentation.
- Provide occasional support with administrative tasks such as inventory tracking and equipment sign-outs as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $28.00 to $38.00 per hour.
- Coordinator-level responsibilities: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour.
- Generalist-level responsibilities: $35.00 to $38.00 per hour.
- Assignment type: Contract/Temporary leave coverage.
- Start date: Early September 2026, following Labor Day.
- Expected end date: Approximately end of February 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Work arrangement: 100% onsite in Temecula, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Provide hands-on HR support across employee relations, benefits, leave management, wage garnishments, and HR administration.
- Support performance management discussions, employee concerns, and termination processes with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Assist with year-end HR processes and increased administrative workload during the holiday season.
- Support administrative transition and implementation activities related to payroll, benefits, and employee data moving from a PEO to a non-PEO platform.

- 4+ years of progressive human resources experience with the ability to work independently.
- Strong employee relations experience, including confidence handling sensitive personnel matters.
- Experience with performance management and employee terminations.
- Working knowledge of benefits administration, leave of absence processes, and wage garnishments.
- Experience using ADP or a comparable HRIS or payroll system.
- Strong communication, organization, discretion, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to commit to the full temporary assignment through approximately the end of February 2027.
- Professional, adaptable, and able to quickly integrate into an established HR team.

Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus.
- Experience working with a PEO.
- Experience supporting a payroll or HRIS transition.
