Job Summary
A leading electrical contractor in Ventura County is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator for a direct hire opportunity in Oxnard, CA. This role is ideal for a seasoned estimating professional who enjoys taking ownership of complex commercial and industrial electrical construction bids from early conceptual budgeting through final proposal submission.
The Electrical Estimator will support high-profile projects across Southern California, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, mixed-use, and institutional facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, mixed-use, and institutional construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to develop complete proposal packages.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop conceptual budgets, value engineering options, negotiated proposals, hard bids, and design-build estimates.
- Analyze project risks, constructability, schedules, scope gaps, and bid strategy to support profitable project awards.
- Partner with project managers, field operations, leadership, clients, general contractors, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the estimating and handoff process.

- Salary range: $110,000 to $140,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prepare electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, and related construction projects.
- Manage multiple bid deadlines while reviewing plans, specifications, addenda, and vendor quotations.
- Support preconstruction, value engineering, design-build estimating, and project handoff to operations.
- Build estimating standards, improve bid accuracy, and contribute to mentoring junior estimating team members.
- 8+ years of electrical estimating experience with a commercial electrical contractor.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, NEC requirements, construction methods, and project delivery processes.
- Proven experience preparing competitive bids from smaller projects through multi-million-dollar electrical contracts.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Experience with conceptual estimates, hard bids, negotiated work, and design-build proposals.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, multiple bids, and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, professional, and relationship-focused approach with clients, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, or similar electrical estimating software.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Design-build and negotiated project experience.
- Previous field experience as an electrician or project engineer.
