A financial services organization in Canonsburg, PA is seeking an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and support continued process improvement. This direct hire Controller role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys managing both technical accounting functions and operational team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, fixed assets, and cash activity.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide management reporting to support leadership decisions.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, reconciliations, and internal controls while supporting audit and tax compliance activities.
- Oversee accounting systems, reporting tools, automation initiatives, and process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage, coach, and develop accounting team members while promoting documentation, cross-training, and departmental continuity.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $100,000 to $125,000 annually.
- Employment Type: Full-time, exempt, direct hire.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 3 days onsite in Canonsburg, PA.
- Additional hours may be required during month-end, year-end, audit periods, or other peak accounting cycles.
- Lead accounting operations and month-end close activities.
- Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reporting.
- Strengthen accounting processes, controls, reconciliations, and financial workflows.
- Manage accounting staff and partner with leadership on financial planning and business support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 7 or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- At least 3 years of experience supervising or leading accounting professionals.
- Strong hands-on experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting processes.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience developing accounting staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- Previous public accounting or audit experience.
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliation, automation, or business intelligence tools.
- Experience participating in an ERP implementation, conversion, or major system enhancement.
- Experience working with complex accounting structures, consolidations, or multiple business entities.
