Senior CNC Programmer (Contract) – Aerospace / Power Generation

Join a leading aerospace and industrial manufacturing team as a Senior CNC Programmer, where you’ll support technical production, process optimization, and product development for turbine, compressor, and stator components. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced CNC professional with strong aerospace or power generation expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize CNC programs for new and repaired aerospace and gas turbine components using Siemens NX (5-axis milling), Siemens NX, or GibbsCAM for turning
Program, test, and troubleshoot CNC operations across 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, turning centers, lathes, mill/turn machines, and EDM
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, CAD models, and manufacturing specifications to create precision machining programs
Assist with fixture design, tooling selection, and first article prototype development
Revise existing CNC programs to improve machining efficiency, reduce cycle times, and extend tool life
Troubleshoot machining discrepancies and support production transfers
Create 3D models from blueprints for CNC programming and fixture design
Develop shop procedures to ensure approved machining processes are followed
Train junior technical staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
7–12 years of CNC programming experience in Aerospace or Power Generation industries
Strong experience with Siemens NX for 5-axis milling; Siemens NX or GibbsCAM for turning
Extensive knowledge of machining methods, tooling, materials, and process optimization
Experience machining aerospace-grade materials including Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum Alloys
Knowledge of FANUC, Siemens Controls, Macro Programming, and Probing preferred
Strong understanding of gas turbine manufacturing processes
Familiarity with CMM, white-light/laser scanning, and precision measuring tools
Ability to read and interpret GD&T, blueprints, FAA guidelines, PMA, and RS-DER compliance requirements preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Education:
Preferred:
A.A.S. in Machining, Machine Tool Technology, or related technical field
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
Industry certifications in CNC Programming or Machining strongly preferred
