Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Career Services & Externship Advisor for a post-secondary vocational school in Riverside, CA. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a relationship-driven professional who enjoys helping students move from classroom training into externship and employment.

This role is a strong fit for someone who thrives in a student-focused, outcome-driven environment with supportive campus leadership, teamwork, and a clear mission. You will play a direct role in student success by developing employer partnerships, coordinating externships, coaching students, and helping graduates secure meaningful employment after program completion.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain qualified externship sites and employer relationships for assigned educational programs.
- Coordinate student externship placements, including site matching, interviews, onboarding, schedules, agreements, and documentation.
- Monitor students throughout externship to ensure attendance, performance, hours, evaluations, and required records are completed accurately and on time.
- Begin employment preparation before externship completion by reviewing resumes, coaching students, identifying job leads, and coordinating interviews.
- Maintain frequent follow-up with students, graduates, externship supervisors, and employers to support successful placement outcomes.
- Track all externship, placement, employer, agreement, inspection, and compliance documentation in an organized and timely manner.

Compensation and Benefits

- $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.
- Temp-to-hire opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Develop externship sites and employer partnerships through outbound calls, in-person visits, networking, and consistent follow-up.
- Manage student externship placement, monitoring, completion tracking, and required documentation.
- Coach students and graduates on resumes, interviewing, professionalism, job search activity, and employment readiness.
- Coordinate graduate placement activity with employers and work toward timely employment outcomes after externship or program completion.

- 3-5 years of relevant experience in career services, externship coordination, recruiting, staffing, workforce development, employment services, business development, account management, customer service, sales, or another relationship-driven role.
- High school diploma required.
- Strong telephone communication skills and comfort making frequent outbound calls.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, articulate communication style.
- Exceptional organization, follow-up, documentation, and data-entry skills.
- Ability to manage multiple students, sites, employers, deadlines, agreements, inspections, and placement records at the same time.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Google Docs, email, DocuSign, and similar applications.
- Ability to learn student management systems and career services platforms.
- Strong coaching skills with the ability to motivate students while holding them accountable.
- Self-directed, persistent, resourceful, and comfortable being measured against externship and placement outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in career education, externship coordination, staffing, recruiting, workforce development, healthcare recruiting, employer relations, or business development is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with vocational school students, externship sites, healthcare employers, or campus-based career services teams is a plus.
- Proven ability to build employer pipelines and create externship-to-hire opportunities.
