Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Butcher for a direct hire opportunity in Miami, FL. This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of experience who enjoys both hands-on meat preparation and customer interaction in a retail food environment.

This Butcher position offers the opportunity to learn from a highly skilled butcher while building valuable trade skills in cutting, trimming, preparing, and presenting quality meats. You will work directly with customers, help them choose the right cuts, and gain practical knowledge of meat quality, cooking styles, preparation techniques, and retail butcher counter operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Cut, trim, bone, tie, grind, wrap, weigh, label, and price meat products including beef, pork, poultry, fish, and specialty cuts.
- Assist customers at the counter by explaining cuts of meat, recommending products, and promoting items based on customer needs.
- Prepare attractive meat displays and ensure products are presented in a clean, fresh, and appealing manner.
- Receive, inspect, store, and track meat inventory to support quality standards and maintain adequate supply levels.
- Prepare special customer orders, including roasts, tied cuts, cured items, smoked meats, tenderized products, and preserved meats.
- Process retail sales transactions, total purchases, and collect payment from customers.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $35,500 to $52,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare consumer-sized portions of meat through cutting, trimming, boning, tying, grinding, and packaging.
- Provide excellent customer service at the butcher counter and help customers select the right products.
- Maintain attractive product displays and support daily meat department operations.
- Receive, inspect, store, and track meat inventory to help maintain quality and availability.

- 1-2 years of related experience in butchery, meat cutting, food production, grocery, retail meat, seafood, deli, or a similar food service environment.
- Strong interest in learning the butcher trade and developing hands-on meat preparation skills.
- Ability to safely use knives, grinders, wrapping equipment, scales, and other butcher counter tools.
- Customer service skills with the ability to explain products, suggest cuts, and communicate clearly with shoppers.
- Attention to detail when weighing, labeling, pricing, inspecting, and displaying meat products.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift as required in a hands-on retail food production environment.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to learn from experienced professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a butcher shop, meat department, seafood counter, grocery store, specialty food market, or similar retail food setting.
- Familiarity with different cuts of beef, pork, poultry, and fish.
- Basic knowledge of cooking methods, meat quality, curing, smoking, tenderizing, or preserving techniques.
- Prior cashiering or point-of-sale experience in a customer-facing retail environment.
