Job Summary
We are seeking a Bilingual Eligibility Specialist to support a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving families in the San Fernando community. This full-time role is ideal for a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who is fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys helping families access early education and childcare resources.
As a Bilingual Eligibility Specialist, you will guide parents through the intake, eligibility, certification, and recertification process for state-subsidized early education programs. Key Responsibilities
- Guide families through intake, application, eligibility, certification, and recertification processes for subsidized early education and childcare programs.
- Review, verify, and audit documentation such as income records, employment or school schedules, emergency referrals, and other eligibility materials.
- Maintain accurate, confidential digital and physical case files in compliance with program, state, and federal requirements.
- Explain eligibility rules, documentation requirements, and program guidelines to families in a clear, professional, and empathetic manner.
- Partner with internal team members to ensure timely case processing, accurate records, and a positive family experience.
- Support families as a trusted resource while maintaining compliance, confidentiality, and service quality.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour.
- Position Type: Full-Time.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Duration: 2 to 4 months.
- Location: San Fernando, CA.
- Job Type: Direct Hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage family intake, application review, eligibility determination, and certification processes.
- Review and verify income, employment, school schedule, referral, and related documentation.
- Maintain organized and confidential case records with strong attention to compliance.
- Communicate program requirements clearly to families in English and Spanish.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred in social services, case management, clerical administration, customer support, or eligibility processing.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage detailed documentation accurately.
- Ability to interpret and explain program guidelines, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with families from diverse backgrounds.
- High level of confidentiality, follow-through, accuracy, and empathy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with subsidized childcare enrollment, CalWORKs, Title 5 programs, early childhood education programs, or nonprofit family services.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Human Services, Sociology, or a related field.
- Prior experience working with state-funded, federally funded, or community-based assistance programs.
- Strong data entry, document review, and case file management experience.
