Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time Benefits Counselor Assistant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Arlington, TX. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented administrative professional who enjoys helping others, providing clear information, and supporting individuals as they navigate public benefits programs.
The Benefits Counselor Assistant will provide phone-based support, application assistance, data entry, and general administrative coordination for a busy, mission-driven department. Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming calls and provide basic information regarding Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare Savings Programs, Part D Extra Help, and other public benefit programs.
- Assist clients with completing, organizing, and submitting public benefits applications and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate client records and document calls, application activity, and follow-up details in reporting systems.
- Perform data entry, prepare mailings, update files, and provide general administrative support to the department.
- Support outreach activities by assisting with educational materials, program coordination, and client communication.
- Handle sensitive client information with professionalism, confidentiality, and care.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $23.25 per hour.
- Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Hours: 20 hours per week.
- Job Type: Part-time, temp-to-hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Provide phone-based assistance to clients seeking information about public benefits programs.
- Assist with application completion, documentation, and submission for benefits-related programs.
- Maintain accurate client records through data entry and reporting system updates.
- Support administrative projects, mailings, outreach coordination, and department operations.
- 1 to 3 years of administrative, call center, customer service, or related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and sound judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering data and maintaining records.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when assisting callers with questions or concerns.
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a busy administrative support environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Benefits Counselor certification is preferred.
- Willingness to obtain Benefits Counselor certification within 6 months is preferred.
- Previous experience supporting Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, public assistance, social services, healthcare administration, or community-based programs is a plus.
