Job Summary
We are seeking a Benefits Intern for a 3-month contract internship opportunity in Rochester, NY. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on Human Resources experience in employee benefits, absence management, workplace accommodations, safety support, compliance, and HR process improvement.
As a Benefits, Absence Management and Safety Intern, you will work closely with an HR team in a professional office environment that values collaboration, learning, accuracy, and responsive employee support. This internship offers practical exposure to real HR operations and provides a strong foundation for candidates interested in Human Resources, Employee Benefits, Business Administration, or related career paths.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with employee benefits administration and absence management activities.
- Support the administration and documentation of workplace accommodations.
- Learn and apply labor law, safety, and compliance requirements in daily HR support work.
- Participate in HR process improvement and intranet update projects.
- Respond to employee inquiries and provide timely administrative support.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and project information while collaborating with HR team members.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Rate: $17.50 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Assist with benefits, absence management, accommodations, and safety-related HR administration.
- Support HR compliance, labor law documentation, and employee inquiry response.
- Participate in HR process improvement and intranet-related projects.
- Maintain organized records and collaborate with HR team members on assigned initiatives.
- Less than 1 year of experience required.
- Interest in Human Resources, Employee Benefits, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Professional communication skills and comfort responding to employee questions.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn HR systems, policies, and compliance processes.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to support multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate pursuing Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Labor Relations, or a related field.
- Interest in employee benefits, absence management, workplace accommodations, safety, or HR compliance.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar business software.
- Prior office, administrative, customer service, or internship experience.
