We are seeking a detail-oriented Bank Item Processing Specialist for a contract/temporary opportunity in El Monte, CA. This role supports critical banking back-office operations by reviewing daily proof work, balancing transactions, correcting rejected items, and preparing files for clearing banks and the Federal Reserve.

Key Responsibilities
- Use FIS VisionIP to enter amounts and account information for items not read by the system.
- Balance transactions within daily processing runs and correct rejected or incomplete item fields.
- Identify coding errors, duplicate items, discrepancies, and transaction issues requiring adjustment.
- Prepare run files for transmission to clearing banks and the Federal Reserve.
- Respond to proof-related calls and emails from internal bank associates to help resolve processing issues.
- Receive courier deliveries for check processing and escalate operational concerns to management as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $23 to $28 per hour.
- Employment type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: El Monte, CA.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior operational experience within the financial industry required.
- Item processing, proof, transit, or banking back-office operations experience required.
- Knowledge of FIS VisionIP required.
- Strong 10-key skills and accurate data entry ability required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong clerical, reading, writing, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collect, review, and organize information with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, security requirements, and government regulations.
- 1 to 3 years of related item processing or banking operations experience preferred based on role requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Willing to train entry level candidate with data entry and office skills
- Bilingual Mandarin and/or Cantonese skills are a plus.
- Prior banking back-office operations experience preferred.
- Experience handling high-volume check processing, proof work, or transit operations preferred.
