Job Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Bank BM for a direct hire opportunity in Santa Barbara, CA. This role may be aligned as a Branch Operations Specialist or Branch Operations Officer depending on experience and qualifications. The position is ideal for a banking operations professional who enjoys leading branch staff, supporting clients, maintaining compliance, and helping drive branch performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Support daily branch operations, including staffing schedules, branch coverage, transaction approvals, file maintenance, overdraft reports, new account review, and operational documentation.
- Provide leadership, coaching, training, and support to Client Service Representatives, New Account staff, and teller team members.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, branch procedures, security controls, documentation standards, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
- Deliver excellent client service by resolving escalated customer concerns, handling account disputes, and recommending appropriate banking products and services.
- Partner with the Branch Manager on branch goals, customer retention, promotional activities, staff performance, and business development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate branch reporting, including daily large transaction reports, NSF exception processing, certification packages, and operational exception reviews.
- Minimum of 5 years of banking experience for Branch Operations Specialist consideration.
- Minimum of 8 years of banking experience for Branch Operations Officer consideration.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience for Branch Operations Specialist consideration.
- Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience for Branch Operations Officer consideration.
- Minimum of 2 years of banking operations experience for Branch Operations Specialist consideration.
- Minimum of 4 years of banking operations experience for Branch Operations Officer consideration.
- Strong knowledge of branch banking operations, teller procedures, new accounts, transaction approvals, account maintenance, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage daily branch operations, service workflows, transaction approvals, documentation review, and operational reporting.
- Lead, coach, train, and support branch employees to ensure strong customer service, compliance, and performance.
- Support branch growth through customer retention, relationship building, product recommendations, and business development support.
- Maintain branch security, operational controls, regulatory compliance, and adherence to bank procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software systems.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to resolve difficult client situations with professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
- Ability to support staff scheduling, timecard review, performance feedback, and branch coverage needs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in reports, account documentation, and regulatory processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Notary Public preferred.
- Prior experience supporting branch sales goals, deposit growth, business customer prospecting, or outside calling is preferred.
- Experience managing up to 2 branch employees for Branch Operations Specialist consideration or up to 5 branch employees for Branch Operations Officer consideration is preferred.
