Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accountant for a Contract/Temporary role. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger, financial reporting, reconciliation, and audit support experience who is ready to contribute quickly in a structured and deadline-driven environment.
The Accountant will support core accounting operations, help maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports and schedules, and assist with budgeting, close, and audit activities. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger activity, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end or year-end close support.
- Prepare financial statements, audit schedules, and supporting documentation for internal review and annual audits.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting processes.
- Analyze financial data, research discrepancies, and recommend improvements to accounting procedures and controls.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide timely, accurate financial information and meet reporting deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $79,000 to $104,000 per year.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: Dana Point, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and close activities.
- Prepare financial statements, audit schedules, and documentation for annual audit support.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, and year-end close.
- Experience preparing financial statements, audit schedules, and supporting annual audits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP software.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local accounting regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced accounting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Government or municipal accounting experience.
- Experience working in a public sector, nonprofit, or highly regulated accounting environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup formulas, and financial analysis tools.
- Experience identifying accounting process improvements and strengthening internal controls.
