We are seeking a Banker / New Accounts CSR for a direct hire opportunity in Hayward, CA. This in-office branch banking role is ideal for a customer-focused banking professional with teller experience, strong account opening skills, and the ability to build trusted client relationships.
In this role, you will support consumer and business banking clients by opening and maintaining accounts, recommending appropriate financial products, processing transactions, and providing excellent service in a fast-paced branch environment. Key Responsibilities
- Open, maintain, and close consumer accounts, business accounts, CDs, IRAs, and related banking products based on role level and client needs.
- Interview and profile customers to recommend appropriate banking products and services while identifying cross-sell and referral opportunities.
- Process teller transactions as needed while maintaining strong balancing accuracy and adherence to branch procedures.
- Respond to client inquiries in person and by phone, providing professional, courteous, and solutions-focused service.
- Ensure proper account documentation, titling, approvals, and system uploads in accordance with internal procedures and banking regulations.
- Support branch goals by generating new business, retaining at-risk customers, and partnering with internal teams to enhance the customer experience.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $20.00 to $31.90 per hour.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: Hayward, CA.
- Work arrangement: In-office branch position.
- CRA volunteer participation: Minimum of 10 hours per year, typically scheduled during business hours. Volunteer time is compensable, and mileage is reimbursed.
- Open and support new consumer accounts and business accounts based on assigned CSR level.
- Process teller transactions, account maintenance requests, and customer service inquiries.
- Cross-sell banking products and refer clients to appropriate internal partners.
- Maintain compliance with account documentation, Bank Secrecy Act requirements, information security standards, and applicable banking procedures.
- Minimum of 1 year of banking teller experience required for CSR II level.
- Minimum of 2 years of banking teller experience required for CSR III level.
- Minimum of 3 years of banking teller experience required for Senior New Accounts/CSR III level.
- Experience opening consumer accounts is required.
- Experience opening basic business accounts is required for CSR III and preferred for CSR II.
- Advanced experience opening consumer accounts and complex business accounts is required for Senior New Accounts/CSR III.
- Working knowledge of basic banking regulations, including BSA and information security, is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software programs is required.
- Strong customer relations skills with the ability to communicate professionally with clients and branch team members.
- Excellent judgment, confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to accept responsibility in a regulated banking environment.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced branch setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred for Senior New Accounts/CSR III candidates.
- Experience supporting Treasury Services such as remote deposit capture, armored services, or courier services is helpful for senior-level candidates.
- Experience with trust and estate accounts is a plus.
- Prior success meeting branch sales, referral, retention, or business development goals is preferred.
