Job Summary
A growing organization in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Workers Comp Claims/Lien Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented claims and collections professional with experience in workers' compensation billing, lien collections, claim follow-up, and reimbursement resolution.
The Workers Comp Claims/Lien Specialist will support a fast-paced healthcare revenue cycle environment by managing outstanding workers' compensation claims, researching payment issues, and working closely with carriers, attorneys, adjusters, and internal teams to drive timely resolution. Key Responsibilities
- Follow up on outstanding workers' compensation claims, lien balances, and aging accounts to maximize recovery.
- Manage the collection process from claim submission through payment resolution.
- Research denials, delayed payments, reimbursement discrepancies, and documentation issues.
- Communicate with insurance carriers, attorneys, adjusters, and other stakeholders regarding claim status and payment concerns.
- Maintain accurate account notes, documentation, and collection activity within billing systems.
- Ensure claims follow-up and collections activity align with applicable workers' compensation billing and collection regulations.

- Pay range: $27 to $29 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Follow up on workers' compensation claims, lien balances, denials, and payment delays.
- Manage claim and lien collections from submission through final resolution.
- Research reimbursement discrepancies and communicate with carriers, attorneys, adjusters, and related parties.
- Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection activity to support timely recovery.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Previous experience with workers' compensation claims and lien collections is required.
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation billing, reimbursement, collections, and follow-up processes.
- Proficiency with billing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent follow-up, problem-solving, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accurate account documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle management, or medical collections.
- Familiarity with lien processing, dispute resolution, and workers' compensation collections workflows.
- Knowledge of California Workers' Compensation regulations is a plus.
