Job Opening: Welder
Compensation: $23.21 per hour to start
We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. This role involves planning and performing a wide range of welding, brazing, burning, spot welding, and soldering operations on various parts and fabrications. The successful candidate will weld in all positions, working with similar and dissimilar metals to achieve structural and mechanical strength.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid welding certification (e.g., AWS Certified Welder)
• Proficiency in MIG welding techniques (Flux-Core/Innershield experience a plus)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols
• Familiarity with welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME, API)
• Basic fabrication and metalworking skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments
• Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes
• Basic math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions
• Basic knowledge of GD&T
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret drawings, process sheets, shop orders, and specifications to determine methods and techniques.
• Set up and operate arc and acetylene equipment, spot welding machines, hand and machine burning equipment, and other related tools.
• Configure welding equipment: set current, amperage, gas pressures, and regulate time and pressure controls. Select rods, wires, tips, and electrodes for specific jobs.
• Position burners and adjust for height and heat. Secure workpieces using tables, fixtures, clamps, or power positioners.
• Fit and position parts according to drawing specifications.
• Tack weld as necessary and inspect for dimensional tolerances.
• Perform pre-weld operations such as drilling holes or straightening parts.
• Maintain equipment and work area, including cleaning, calibration, and routine maintenance.
• Inspect and test welds for quality and compliance using visual inspection and measurement tools.
