We are seeking a WFH Customer Service Representative for a contract/temporary opportunity supporting residential and commercial customers in the energy and utilities industry. This remote call center role is ideal for a dependable customer service professional who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and providing accurate information in a fast-paced inbound call environment. Key Responsibilities
- Answer a high volume of inbound customer calls in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
- Assist customers with billing questions, payment arrangements, account inquiries, service requests, and account updates.
- Process requests for new service, transfers, disconnections, and changes to customer accounts.
- Troubleshoot basic service-related issues and coordinate with internal teams or field personnel when needed.
- Document customer interactions accurately while following company policies, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide outage-related information, explain available utility programs, and escalate complex concerns as appropriate.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $20 to $22 per hour.
- Listed pay rate: $22.00 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
- Work arrangement: Remote.
- Location requirement: Candidates must reside within 40 miles of Chester, VA 23836.
- Occasional onsite attendance may be required if remote work is unavailable or for business needs.
- Handle inbound customer service calls for residential and commercial utility customers.
- Support account management, billing inquiries, payment arrangements, and service requests.
- Accurately document customer interactions and account updates in internal systems.
- Follow call handling procedures, quality expectations, and performance standards.
- 1 to 2 years of customer service, call center, or related experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage high-volume inbound calls while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
- Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to navigate multiple applications at once.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and stay productive in a remote environment.
- Reliable internet connection and a suitable home workspace required.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of customer and company information.
- Must be able to attend onsite as needed for business requirements or when remote work is unavailable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous call center experience in utilities, energy services, billing support, or account services.
- Experience handling customer concerns related to payments, service changes, outages, or regulated services.
- Comfort working in a metrics-driven customer support environment.
