Seeking an experienced VP, SBL Senior Loan Underwriter responsible for underwriting small business loans with a focus on SBA-guaranteed products such as 504 and 7(a) loans. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, and at least seven years of direct small business underwriting experience, including a minimum of three years specifically with SBA 504 and 7(a) loans. A deep and thorough knowledge of SBA regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and program requirements is essential. The role demands strong credit analysis skills, including financial modeling, ratio analysis, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication abilities to prepare clear and detailed credit memorandums. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with loan origination systems—preferably Baker Hill—as well as computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. Attention to detail, exceptional organizational capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple loan transactions under tight deadlines are critical to success. Experience with construction lending and knowledge of other government-guaranteed lending programs are advantageous. This position requires independent work under minimal supervision, teamwork, and personal interaction within an office setting, with a commitment to maintaining compliance with all bank policies and applicable federal and state regulations. This is 100% onsite.
