Travel Manager – Temp to Hire
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 annually
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional after-hours events
Job Summary
The Travel Manager is responsible for ensuring that employees and clients reach their destinations on time with appropriate accommodations. This includes researching destinations, booking hotels, flights, and car rentals, coordinating activities, and managing documentation. The role requires delivering the highest level of service, maximizing productivity, assisting in the direction and expansion of the agency, and overseeing operations across all service centers. The Travel Manager is also responsible for ensuring staff competency through effective training and ongoing professional development.
Education and Experience Requirements
• No Degree: Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in the field
• Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the field
• Master’s Degree: Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in the field
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure staff are trained, certified, and service centers are properly staffed with quality personnel
• Monitor staffing changes including vacations, familiarization tours, and business trips
• Develop new programs to enhance agency growth and image
• Compile and monitor agency sales, providing reinforcement and adjustments as needed
• Lead and assist in travel promotions such as cruise nights, travel fairs, and group events
• Plan and implement staff training at all levels to ensure high-quality service and minimize errors
• Maintain records and provide management with regular reports on agency status
• Extend sales to established accounts and solicit new accounts; perform duties of a senior agent
• Stay informed on travel industry trends and communicate updates to staff
• Meet with representatives from airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, and wholesalers to evaluate new programs and services
• Manage computer contracts, negotiate enhancements, and arrange training as needed
• Direct and manage staff effectively
• Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of travel agency principles and airline systems
• Expertise in administration and hospitality industry practices
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, set priorities, delegate tasks, and motivate staff
• Proficiency in English language, including grammar and composition
• Customer service expertise, including needs assessment and service quality evaluation
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and government processes relevant to travel operations
• Understanding of human behavior, motivation, and performance
• Experience in education and training design, instruction, and evaluation
• Competence in mathematics, including statistics and applications
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
