ool and Die Maker
Overview
Seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to fabricate, modify, and maintain complex, non-repetitive machined components. This role works from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions and involves the setup and operation of a wide range of conventional and CNC machine tools. The ideal candidate has strong machining fundamentals, material knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications to determine materials and machining processes
Compute dimensions, plan layouts, and determine assembly methods and machining sequences
Collaborate with Engineering to identify the most effective tool and die machining methods
Set up and operate manual and CNC equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses
Manufacture, repair, and modify tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
Verify conformance of machined components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, and thickness gauges
Evaluate and improve existing tooling, fixtures, and production methods
Assist Manufacturing Engineering in the design and development of production jigs and fixtures
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years experience in a high-volume production machine shop
Tool and Die, Aerospace, or precision manufacturing experience preferred
Demonstrated hands-on capability with machining and CNC programming
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with strong judgment, initiative, and follow-through
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Physical Demands
Regular use of hands for handling, feeling, and operating machine tools
Frequent walking with occasional standing and sitting
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
