Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Buyer for an immediate contract opportunity in Goleta, CA. This approximately 6-week assignment is ideal for a procurement, purchasing, or buyer professional who can quickly step in to support requisitions, supplier quotes, purchase orders, vendor coordination, and order fulfillment.
This role supports a well-established organization operating in a highly regulated environment, offering the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical purchasing activities while working with collaborative internal teams. The environment is structured, process-driven, and focused on accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. Candidates who enjoy organized workflows, supplier communication, and cross-functional teamwork will find this to be a strong short-term opportunity with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Support procurement and purchasing activities from requisition through purchase order creation and order fulfillment.
- Obtain, review, and evaluate supplier quotes to ensure pricing, delivery, and compliance requirements are met.
- Track open orders, follow up with suppliers, and help ensure timely delivery of products and services.
- Assist with supplier onboarding, vendor documentation, and ongoing vendor relationship management.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchasing files, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support purchasing compliance, project needs, and issue resolution.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $32 to $35 per hour.
- Assignment type: Contract/Temporary.
- Assignment length: Approximately 6 weeks, with potential for extension.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Location: Goleta, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Support purchasing, procurement, and buyer activities from requisition to fulfillment.
- Issue purchase orders, evaluate supplier quotes, and coordinate delivery timelines.
- Maintain procurement documentation and assist with supplier onboarding.
- Partner with internal teams to ensure purchasing compliance and project support.
- 2+ years of procurement, purchasing, or buyer experience.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, supplier communication, and order tracking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background clearance process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Experience in regulated industries or government contracting environments.
- Familiarity with supplier performance monitoring, vendor management, and procurement compliance processes.
