Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer for a direct hire opportunity in San Juan, PR. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong Puerto Rico and Federal tax experience who enjoys client interaction, technical tax work, and contributing to a collaborative professional services environment.

The Tax Preparer will work closely with clients and internal accounting staff to prepare, review, and support a variety of tax filings for individuals, corporations, and trusts. Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review Puerto Rico and Federal tax returns for individuals, corporations, and trusts.
- Prepare and review sales tax returns, quarterly tax returns, and related compliance filings.
- Meet with clients, maintain established client relationships, and provide responsive client service.
- Assist with tax planning, projections, and research related to complex tax and accounting matters.
- Handle and resolve Hacienda and IRS notices while maintaining compliance calendars and deadlines.
- Perform bookkeeping duties as needed and provide training or support to staff accountants.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $40,000 to $50,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare and review Puerto Rico and Federal tax returns for individuals, corporations, and trusts.
- Manage tax compliance deadlines, filing calendars, sales tax returns, and quarterly tax returns.
- Assist with tax planning, projections, tax research, and resolution of Hacienda and IRS notices.
- Support bookkeeping activities and provide guidance to staff accountants as needed.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a business-related field.
- Two or more years of professional tax experience.
- Experience preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, trust, sales tax, and quarterly tax returns.
- Knowledge of Puerto Rico and Federal tax compliance requirements.
- Ability to research complex tax and accounting issues.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
- Strong client service, relationship management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Availability to work overtime when needed to meet filing deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience handling Hacienda and IRS notices.
- Prior experience training or supporting junior accounting staff.
- Bookkeeping experience in a professional accounting or tax services environment.
