A long-standing public accounting firm in Fresno is seeking a seasoned 1040 Tax Preparer for the upcoming tax season. This role is ideal for professionals with recent, hands-on experience preparing U.S. individual tax returns in a CPA or tax firm environment.
This position is NOT entry-level. Professional tax preparation experience is required.
Position Details:
Duration: ~7–8 weeks (Seasonal, Full-Time)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with potential for overtime during peak weeks
Pay: $25–$30/hr, depending on experience
Higher rates available for Licensed CPAs
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate Form 1040 and related schedules (Schedules A, B, C, D, E, etc.)
Analyze client financial documents (W-2, 1099s, K-1s, brokerage statements, etc.)
Ensure compliance with current federal and California tax laws
Communicate professionally with clients regarding missing documentation or clarifications
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and timely tax return processing
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 consecutive years of experience preparing 1040 individual tax returns
(preferably in a CPA, EA, or tax preparation firm)
Strong working knowledge of federal and California individual tax regulations
Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, Drake, etc.)
High accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing returns involving investments, small businesses (Schedule C), rentals (Schedule E), or multi-state filings
Active CPA or EA license (eligible for higher pay)
