Job Summary
A well-established public accounting firm in Temecula, CA is seeking an experienced Tax Manager for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a public accounting tax professional who enjoys managing complex tax engagements, advising clients, reviewing a variety of tax returns, and mentoring developing staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review a broad range of tax returns, including individual, partnership, S Corporation, C Corporation, fiduciary and trust, gift tax, and nonprofit returns.
- Oversee multiple tax engagements from planning through completion while ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and compliance requirements are met.
- Conduct tax research and provide tax planning strategies for clients across federal, state, and local tax matters.
- Review staff work for accuracy, provide technical guidance, and support the development of junior team members.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication, consultative support, and exceptional service.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on client advisory services, tax planning opportunities, and process improvements.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000 to $140,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage tax engagements for individuals, businesses, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.
- Review complex tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041, 709, and 990.
- Provide tax planning, research, client advisory support, and compliance guidance.
- Mentor staff and review work for accuracy, completeness, and technical quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- 5+ years of recent public accounting tax experience required.
- Experience preparing and reviewing nonprofit tax returns, including Form 990.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines during peak tax seasons.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation preferred.
- ProSystem fx Tax experience strongly preferred.
- QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification preferred.
- Multi-state tax experience preferred.
- Experience supervising, coaching, or mentoring staff.
- Tax planning and consulting experience.
- Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
