Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager for a direct hire opportunity in San Diego, CA within the financial services industry. Key Responsibilities
- Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance processes, including review of tax returns, estimates, extensions, and related filings.
- Lead tax provision, reporting, and analysis activities in coordination with accounting and finance teams.
- Research complex tax issues and provide practical guidance on tax planning, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization’s tax strategy and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and internal stakeholders to support accurate and timely tax deliverables.
- Identify process improvements, strengthen controls, and support efficient tax department operations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $150,000 to $200,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage tax compliance, tax reporting, and tax planning activities for a financial services organization.
- Lead tax provision processes, technical research, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Coordinate tax deliverables with accounting teams, external advisors, and business stakeholders.
- Support process improvements, documentation standards, and internal tax controls.
- 6 to 10 years of tax accounting experience, preferably with increasing responsibility in corporate tax, public accounting, or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
- Experience reviewing tax returns, tax provisions, estimates, extensions, and supporting schedules.
- Ability to research complex tax matters and communicate findings clearly to finance and business leaders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize competing requirements, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor staff, collaborate cross-functionally, and manage external advisor relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- CPA designation or advanced tax-related credential.
- Public accounting experience with exposure to corporate, partnership, or financial services tax.
- Experience with tax technology, accounting systems, and process automation initiatives.
