Our client in Northern California is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to step into a highly impactful, leadership-focused role. The firm provides services to musicians, entertainers, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, individuals, and small business owners, offering a unique and dynamic client base.

This position is ideal for a driven professional looking for long-term growth and a potential partnership-track opportunity. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded tax and accounting professional with excellent technical skills, strong communication abilities, and the proven capacity to manage client relationships while supervising and mentoring staff. This is an in-office position in the San Francisco Bay Area, working closely with a collaborative team.

Oversee all aspects of client engagements, ensuring effective communication with clients including written, verbal, and in person. In this role you will manage business management engagements, including cash receipts and disbursements, cash flow reporting and planning, and Tour accounting budgets, reporting. As the Tax Manager you will work with royalty accounting and analysis, payroll and commission calculations and Insurance coordination.

This Tax Manager position will oversee band profit splits, estate planning support, and review and prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns with limited trust and nonprofit returns.

For your role you will identify, analyze, and resolve tax and financial issues; conduct research and apply critical thinking in planning and advisory efforts and review and respond to IRS, state, and local tax notices and audits.

The Tax Manager will perform and supervise accounting write-ups and the preparation of financial statements, lead comprehensive year-end tax planning and manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines effectively.

The Tax Manger will be required to supervise, train, and review work completed by other team members.

Qualifications
Active CPA license required.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, general ledger functions, and financial statement concepts.
5–10 years of recent public accounting experience, ideally within a business management or family-office style environment.
Extensive experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, S corporations, C corporations, LLCs, and partnerships.
Experience with tax audits and responding to notices.
Advanced software proficiency, including Excel; experience with CCH ProSystem or Axcess preferred.
