We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Auditor to join a growing CPA firm in Miami, FL. This role is responsible for conducting tax-related audits, reviewing financial records for compliance, identifying risk areas, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced public accounting environment and is comfortable working directly with clients across multiple industries.
Responsibilities
- Perform tax audits and examinations for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts
- Review financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Identify discrepancies, risk exposures, and potential tax savings opportunities
- Prepare audit workpapers and detailed reports outlining findings and recommendations
- Research federal and Florida state tax laws to ensure compliance
- Assist in responding to IRS and state tax authority inquiries
- Collaborate with tax preparers and senior CPAs on complex tax matters
- Maintain organized documentation in accordance with firm and regulatory standards
- Support clients during audits conducted by tax authorities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s in Taxation preferred)
- CPA license or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- 3+ years of experience in public accounting (tax audit or tax compliance experience required)
- Strong knowledge of federal and Florida tax regulations
- Experience with IRS audit procedures
- Proficiency in tax software (UltraTax, CCH, ProSystem FX, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
