Job Summary

A well-established public accounting firm in Tucson, AZ is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant, CPA or EA to join its Tax Department on a direct hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys preparing complex returns, advising clients, researching tax matters, and working in a collaborative public accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare individual and business income tax returns, including multi-state tax filings.
- Provide income tax services for businesses, individuals, trusts, estates, and gift tax returns.
- Conduct quarterly tax planning for business and individual clients.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness before tax preparation.
- Research and resolve tax-related questions, issues, and client inquiries.
- Communicate with federal, state, and local taxing authorities as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $70,000 to $80,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare individual, business, trust, estate, and gift tax returns.
- Conduct quarterly tax planning and support tax compliance for clients.
- Review financial statements and documentation before preparing returns.
- Research tax issues and communicate with taxing authorities when needed.

- Current CPA or EA license, or active candidacy toward licensure.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of tax preparation experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PDF software, QuickBooks, and other accounting applications.
- Experience working with tax preparation software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue-resolution skills.
- Comfortable working in a paperless environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

- Public accounting firm experience.
- Experience preparing multi-state tax returns.
- Experience supporting business, individual, trust, estate, and gift tax clients.
