Job Summary

A local CPA firm in Shreveport, LA is seeking a full-time Tax Accountant to join its public accounting team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with 1-2 years of tax or public accounting experience who wants to continue building long-term expertise in individual, business, trust, partnership, and corporate tax work.

The Tax Accountant will support tax preparation, bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and client service responsibilities in a professional CPA firm environment. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced accounting professionals, strengthen technical tax knowledge, and develop strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, corporations, and partnerships.
- Prepare federal and state tax projections for quarterly estimated payments.
- Prepare franchise tax, personal property tax, and payroll tax returns.
- Prepare or review monthly bookkeeping activity for client accounts.
- Prepare financial statements and support related accounting work.
- Research and troubleshoot tax and accounting questions to help resolve client issues accurately and efficiently.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $50,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Direct hire, full-time opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare individual, trust, partnership, corporate, and business tax returns.
- Support bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and client accounting work.
- Research tax and accounting questions and assist with accurate client issue resolution.
- Prepare tax projections and various federal and state tax filings.

- 1-2 years of tax accounting or public accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of federal and state income tax preparation.
- Ability to prepare or review bookkeeping activity and financial statement support.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
- Professional communication skills and a client-service mindset.
- Ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a CPA firm environment.
- Dependable, collaborative, and motivated to continue developing tax and accounting expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with tax preparation software and accounting systems.
- CPA eligibility, CPA exam progress, or interest in pursuing CPA certification.
- Prior experience supporting multiple client accounts in a public accounting environment.
