Job Summary
A local public accounting firm in Shreveport, LA is seeking a full-time Tax Accountant to join its professional team on a direct hire basis. This role is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with public accounting experience who enjoys tax preparation, bookkeeping, financial statements, and client service.
The Tax Accountant will work in a supportive, team-oriented environment where accuracy, professionalism, and dependable client service are valued. This position offers exposure to a variety of individual and business tax matters, opportunities to strengthen technical accounting skills, and the stability of joining an established CPA firm with strong client relationships.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-focused, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, corporations, and partnerships.
- Prepare federal and state tax projections for quarterly estimated payments.
- Prepare franchise tax, personal property tax, and payroll tax returns.
- Prepare or review monthly bookkeeping and related accounting records.
- Prepare financial statements and support accurate client reporting.
- Research and troubleshoot various tax and accounting issues as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $42,000 to $45,000 per year.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- 10 days of PTO, increasing to 15 days of PTO at 3 years.
- 8.5 paid holidays per year.
- Participation in SIMPLE IRA plan after a 6-month grace period.
- Time and a half for overtime worked.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prepare individual, trust, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Support quarterly tax projections and estimated payment calculations.
- Prepare bookkeeping, payroll tax, franchise tax, personal property tax, and financial statement work.
- Resolve tax and accounting questions while supporting client needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of prior accounting experience required.
- Public accounting experience strongly aligned with the role.
- Experience preparing federal and state tax returns.
- Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in tax and accounting work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple deadlines.
- Professional interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
- Prior experience in a CPA firm or public accounting environment preferred.
- Experience with individual and business tax preparation preferred.
