Tax Accountant
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Accountant to support the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with tax regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with tax planning and reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and/or trust tax returns
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Research tax issues and provide guidance on tax implications and strategies
Assist with tax planning, projections, and estimated payments
Prepare and reconcile supporting schedules and work papers
Respond to tax notices and assist with audits or inquiries as needed
Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to gather required documentation
Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Previous experience in tax preparation or public accounting preferred
Strong understanding of U.S. tax regulations and compliance requirements
Proficiency with tax software (e.g., UltraTax, Lacerte, ProSeries, or similar)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
CPA or CPA-eligible (or working toward certification)
Experience with multi-state, partnership, or corporate tax filings
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms
Strong communication skills and ability to explain tax concepts clearly
Work Environment
Professional office or hybrid work environment
Seasonal workload fluctuations, especially during tax season
