About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in general tax preparation and compliance, with a particular focus on sales and use tax reporting and reconciliation. This role is perfect for a motivated professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and enjoys collaborating across departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and file sales and use tax returns across multiple states and jurisdictions.
Research and interpret complex tax regulations to ensure compliance.
Assist with preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for all tax filings and audits.
Reconcile tax accounts and ensure proper journal entries in the general ledger.
Monitor changes in tax laws and advise management of potential impacts.
Support month-end and year-end close processes as needed.
Communicate with external auditors, tax authorities, and vendors to resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track preferred).
3+ years of experience in accounting or tax preparation, with direct exposure to sales and use tax.
Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar).
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
