Tax Accountant
Location: San Juan, PR
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $38,000 annually + Benefits

Position Summary:
The Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all municipal, state, and federal tax obligations for the company and its affiliates. This role plays a critical part in preparing accurate tax filings, preventing fiscal risks, supporting strategic tax planning, and maintaining organized records to facilitate audits and regulatory inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and file municipal, state, and federal tax returns, including Sales and Use Tax (SUT/IVU), income tax, municipal license (patente), and property tax (CRIM).
• Calculate and record monthly and annual tax provisions and reconcile tax-related accounts.
• Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments and perform comparative analyses against prior years.
• Monitor and analyze legislative changes that may impact the company’s tax obligations.
• Maintain complete and organized records of all tax filings and supporting documentation.
• Visit government agencies (Hacienda, CRIM, municipal offices) to address notices, clarify discrepancies, and resolve payment issues.
• Collaborate with auditors and regulatory agencies during audits and inspections, providing requested documentation.
• Identify opportunities for legitimate tax savings and improvements in internal tax processes.
• Support the accounting team with tax-related journal entries during month-end and year-end closings.
• Ensure strict confidentiality of all sensitive financial and tax information.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate tax compliance, including local and federal filings.
• Strong knowledge of Puerto Rico tax regulations and general accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365; strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
