Strategic Controller – Financial Services

We are partnering with a growing financial services firm seeking a Strategic Controller who can confidently lead financial planning and decision support while also staying close to the day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is confident with transactional accounting, and brings a strategic mindset to financial management.

This individual will work closely with firm leadership to support budgeting models, manage daily accounting activities, and ensure compliance with GAAP and state-level tax requirements, including Washington State Business & Occupation (B&O) tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:
-Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Lead capital planning and cost structure analysis
- Manage month-end close, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations
- Handle client billing, AP/AR, and other transactional accounting functions
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and Washington State tax regulations
- File B&O taxes and WA payroll reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Act as a financial liaison to leadership and business units
- Support financial modeling, scenario planning, and strategic initiatives
- Optimize accounting systems (QuickBooks) and internal controls

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
- Proven ability to manage both strategic and hands-on accounting functions
- Experience preparing and filing WA B&O tax returns and payroll filings
- Background in financial or professional services preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with leadership
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop)
