A well-established printing and production company is seeking a Stitching Machine Helper (Bindery Assistant) to join our production team. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and wants to build a career in the printing industry. Many of our helpers grow into Stitcher Operator roles through hands-on training and advancement opportunities.
Position Overview
As a Stitching Machine Helper, you will support the lead operator in running and maintaining saddle stitching and bindery equipment used to produce booklets, catalogs, and magazines. This role plays an important part in keeping the production line running efficiently while ensuring high-quality finished products.
Key Responsibilities
Load printed sheets (signatures) into stitching machine pockets in the correct order
Assist the operator with machine setup and adjustments for various materials
Monitor machine operation and report jams, misfeeds, or mechanical issues
Perform quality checks on finished materials to ensure proper folding, trimming, and stitching
Move, lift, and stack paper stock, signatures, and finished products
Count, stack, and package completed materials for shipment
Assist with basic machine cleaning and routine maintenance
What We’re Looking For
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine operation
Ability to read measurements using a ruler (including metric/mm)
Previous manufacturing or bindery experience is a plus, but not required
Positive attitude and ability to work well within a team environment
