Staff Accountant – Property Management

About the Role

A well-established property management firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, experience in property management accounting, and familiarity with platforms such as AppFolio, Yardi, or similar. Key Responsibilities

-Prepare and maintain financial records for multiple properties
-Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of bank accounts and trust accounts
-Generate financial statements and reports for property owners and internal stakeholders
-Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
-Monitor rent collections, security deposits, and owner distributions
-Ensure compliance with accounting standards and property management regulations
-Support audits and year-end financial processes
-Collaborate with property managers and vendors to resolve financial discrepancies
-Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and tenant information

Qualifications

-Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management
-Proficiency in AppFolio or similar property management accounting software
-Strong understanding of GAAP and property management financial workflows
-Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
-Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
-Strong communication and analytical skills
-Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
