Job Title: Tax Accountant I, Sales & Use
Location: Calabasas, CA
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountant I, Sales & Use to join our Indirect Tax team. This role will assist with sales and use tax compliance, including monthly filings, liability reviews, vendor compliance analysis, and audit support. The position supports multiple entities involved in new construction development, property renovations, maintenance, and management activities across various states.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns, process ACH payments, reconcile accounts, and provide coding support (30%).
Review vendor compliance and use tax liability by analyzing payment support and applying jurisdictional rules (30%).
Support new construction projects by verifying vendor information, preparing exemption certificates, tracking filings, researching tax jurisdictions, and estimating project tax liabilities (20%).
Research sales and use tax regulations, develop subject matter expertise, and assist with audits (20%).
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, legal requirements, and safety standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
Familiarity with CRM, Yardi, and JD Edwards strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to research and apply tax regulations.
