Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Seattle, WA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience who enjoys accurate financial reporting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and supporting month-end close activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and support accurate financial recordkeeping.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and research account discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice review, payments, cash receipts, deposits, and account coding.
- Track prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, depreciation, and other recurring accounting schedules.
- Assist with financial reporting, audit documentation requests, variance analysis, and accounting process improvements.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $70,000 to $85,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Maintain accurate general ledger records, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Support month-end close, financial reporting, audit preparation, and discrepancy resolution.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity, expense review, and account coding.
- Prepare spreadsheets and reports used to analyze financial information and support accounting decisions.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field required.
- 3 to 5+ years of professional accounting experience required.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation.
- Experience preparing journal entries and supporting month-end close activities.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, lookups, sorting, filtering, and reconciling large data sets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, or similar collaboration tools.
- Ability to review financial information, identify discrepancies, research issues, and follow through to resolution.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with accounting or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Xero, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable general ledger platforms.
- Experience assisting with annual financial audits and responding to auditor documentation requests.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules.
- Stable professional work history and strong professional references preferred.
